Hungarian Kuvasz Breeders, Breed Clubs and Rescue

Hungarian Kuvasz
The Hungarian Kuvasz is an ancient guarding sheepdog taken to Hungary by nomadic Turkish shepherds in the Middle Ages, although he has developed to become a guard for people and property. He needs very careful handling to get the best from him and plenty of socialisation. The Hungarian Kuvasz is a powerful dog standing at 29″ and up to 50kg. He is not a bulky dog but is very well muscled. He is protective of his owners, devoted and gentle but suspicious of strangers. He will adapt to live in the home but needs a secure area which he can call his own to patrol and and protect.
The Kuvasz coat is medium length, white and wavy with a fine undercoat, which is easy to keep but needs regular grooming if you don’t want white hairs everywhere. His eyes are a particular feature; they are dark and almond shape with an exotic slant; they are outlined in black and the lips and nose are also black.
The Hungarian Kuvasz are a rare breed in the UK, some patience and research will be required before a puppy could be acquired.
